Powerpoints and key topics at the roundtable held at the Nonprofit Technology Conference
Approximately 25 participants joined us for an energetic discussion around the topic: "Information sharing for disaster response: are we ready for the next tsunami, earthquake, or Katrina?" on March 22 at the Seattle NTC. Powerpoints from three of the presentations are available here for downloading.
HumaniNet update, Gregg Swanson (4.1 Mb)
Mongolia Disaster Mapping: Participatory GIS for Disaster Resilient Communities, Glenn Brooks, University of Washington (8.7 Mb)
Geek Action National Guard, Dr. Don Bruce, HumaniNet (4.7 Mb)
We also heard a presentation from Frank Schott on the Emergency Capacity Building project, or ECB4. His presentation should be available here soon.
Breakouts were organized around the following topics, resulting in additional post-conference networking:
- Geospatial information systems
- Data standards
- Geek Action National Guard and volunteer action in emergencies
If you would like more information on these topics, or would like to contact the networks that were formed, email gregg@humaninet.org.
